WELCOME TO BUCKLESHAM PRIMARY SCHOOL

Bucklesham School

Our children's age ranges from 4 years to 11 years. The Foundation Stage introduces the children to the school and its curriculum through the teaching of six key areas of learning.

In Key Stage 1 the children follow the National Curriculum and are guided through the programmes of study by their teacher and support staff. At the end of Key Stage 1 the children sit SAT's in English, Mathematics and Science.

In Key Stage 2 the children also follow the National Curriculum which culminates in SAT's in Year 6 when the children are aged 10 or 11 years.
Uniform:

The uniform of Bucklesham School is grey trousers or a grey skirt, a bottle green sweatshirt and white polo shirt. The school has a logo of the Bucklesham Bell which links us to the naval ship, the HMS Bucklesham, whose bell hangs now in our entrance foyer.
After School Activities:

We have excellent external teachers who regularly teach some pupils in violin, piano.
During the winter, we have Netball and Football team practices on Mondays after school. We have an excellent gardening club on Mondays run jointly by Mrs Starke and Mrs Bailey(a mum).
Tuesdays provide us with times to practice recorder groups as well as our beginners French using Club Bleu, Blanc, Rouge teachers.
Thursdays after school allows the more advanced French group to flourish.
Fridays mean we are visited by the Football 2000 team.
Fund Raising:

Bucklesham School has a very active parent/teacher association which raises amazing amounts of money each year. We also fundraise for a number of charitable events including Red Nose Day, Blue Peter, and the NCH.
Sports Fixtures:

These include regular competitions within the Federation and occasional meetings with other schools in the Kesgrave pyramid.

Healthy Schools:

The children have been involved in a number of special events which have focused on a healthy life-style. These have included a healthy week during which they took part in Yoga sessions, running training, Football 2000 and visits from a health visitor and a lady who promoted the regular drinking of water. The school has achieved accreditation as a Healthy School in 2005.
